Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the daily operation and organisation of the classroom environment.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging learning experiences and activities aligned with the Cayman Islands Early Years Curriculum Framework.
  • Guide and support Assistant Teachers within the classroom, ensuring teamwork and consistency in daily routines and teaching practices.
  • Create weekly and monthly lesson plans that support children’s developmental needs and interests.
  • Prepare and organise classroom materials, activities and learning environments.
  • Promote children’s language, motor, cognitive, emotional and social development through play-based learning.
  • Monitor, assess and document children’s progress throughout the academic year.
  • Maintain accurate observations, assessments and developmental records for each child.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding children’s development, routines and milestones through meetings, conversations and web-based apps.
  • Ensure the classroom remains safe, clean, organised and welcoming at all times.
  • Support children’s daily care needs, including mealtimes, toileting and transitions where required.
  • Ensure all health, safety and hygiene standards are followed in line with Cayman Islands regulations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development and training sessions.
  • Collaborate with management and other teachers to support curriculum planning, classroom transitions and centre-wide initiatives.
  • Plan and supervise field trips, special activities and classroom projects.
  • Support positive behaviour guidance and help children develop independence and confidence.
  • Any other duties assigned by management as required.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a preschool or early years setting.
  • Previous experience leading a classroom or supervising staff is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development stages and early years best practices.
  • Knowledge of planning, assessment and classroom management.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Eligible to work with children aged 0–5 years in a classroom environment.
  • Willingness to participate in school break camps on an alternating basis among staff.

  • Ability to lead by example and support Assistant Teachers positively and professionally.
  • Physically able to actively engage in classroom activities, including lifting, bending and floor-level interaction with children.

Required documentation:

  • Clean Police background check
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification
  • References from previous schools/employers

Working days:

Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)
