About the role:

Bloom is seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Teacher to guide our small team of teachers and caregivers, while creating a nurturing, play-based learning environment for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. This role focuses on leadership across the preschool, combined with teaching, providing support to both staff and children.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to teachers through monitoring and evaluation of lesson plans, teaching, and assessment.
  • Support classroom activities, promoting children’s language, motor and social development.
  • Assist teachers with planning and facilitation of activities in classrooms, ensuring alignment with Cayman Islands Early Years Curriculum Framework.
  • Oversee daily classroom operations, offering insight and support to teachers and administrators.
  • Monitor and assess children’s progress throughout the academic year.
  • Provide regular feedback to parents on child’s development, in person or through web-based app.
  • Provide feedback to teachers through appraisals and observation, supporting professional growth and improvement.
  • Participate in and coordinate staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
  • Ensure the needs of individual children are planned for, documented and met appropriately.
  • Monitor and enforce health and safety practices throughout the centre, in line with Cayman Islands government regulations.
  • Collaborate with administrators on long-range plans, monthly and weekly schedules, and curriculum implementation.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including the Early Childhood Care & Education Unit, Ministry of Education and Early Intervention Practitioners, to support the needs of the school and individual children.
  • Assist leadership team with inspection reports, e.g. School Improvement Plans and Self Evaluation Form.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or equivalent.
  • Eligible to obtain a Cayman Islands Licence to Teach.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching in nursery or primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development stages and early years best practices.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Leadership experience preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to participate in school break camps on alternating basis among staff.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident and experienced in interacting with young children.
  • Leads by example, showing care, patience and understanding to both children and staff.
  • Creative, energetic and passionate about early childhood education.
  • Physically able to actively engage in classroom activities, including lifting, bending and floor-level interaction with children.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety practices, with the ability to learn and adapt in accordance with Cayman Islands regulations.

Required documentation:

  • Clean Police background check
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification
  • References from previous schools/employers.

Working days: Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate activities and learning experiences with other staff members and/or management that align with the Cayman Islands Early Years Curriculum Framework and include:  
    - Indoor and outdoor activities
    - The provision of activities and experiences children can choose to freely engage in
    - The materials and resources required
  • Develop and provide activities that will stimulate and engage children
  • Engage in play-based learning, helping children develop language, motor, and social skills.
  • Monitor and assess children’s progress
  • Discuss the child’s progress with their parents and other staff as needed
  • Assist at mealtimes, including interacting with children
  • Provide safe supervision of the children
  • Comfort children when needed
  • Plan, implement and supervise field trips and projects
  • Select, store and issue supplies, equipment and materials
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training as required.
  • Use the Cayman Islands Early Years Curriculum Framework to guide practise and to provide a resource for activities
  • Any other duties assigned by management as required

Requirements:

  • A certification/diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching preschool-aged children.
  • Knowledge of child development stages and early childhood best practices.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Will involve working with children aged 0-5 years in a classroom environment.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with young children, families, and colleagues.
  • Patient, caring, and attentive to the needs of children.
  • Creative and energetic, with a passion for early childhood education.
  • Physically able to lift children, bend, squat, and engage in floor activities with children.
